Thursday 24th April, 19:30pm
Hopefield and Essex Bat Group joining forces to raise funds
Learn all about British bats with a presentation from the Essex Bat Group, see rescued bats up close*, then head out on a guided walk around Hopefield Animal Sanctuary with bat detectors! With luck, you will see and hear some wild bats! Ticket sales are split 50/50 to support animal care undertaken by Hopefield Animal Sanctuary and Essex Bat Group.
Free parking is available on-site, and complimentary tea, filter coffee and milk is available during the presentation. Participants can arrive from 19:30. The event will begin promptly at 19:45.
Spaces are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
This event takes place at sunset and night time at our animal sanctuary, please wear shoes and clothing suitable for the weather conditions. You may bring torches for the walk, but these must be shone at the ground so as to not disturb the bats. Due to the nature of this event, including presentation and time of day, this event is recommended for those 14 years and above.
*Rescued live bats you will see are in the permanent care of Essex Bat Group because they cannot be rehabilitated. Note there will also be taxidermy on display for education purposes, all these bats died of natural causes. Bats you may see on the walk are wild (not Hopefield residents!) and there is no guarantee of sightings.
Tickets are non-refundable except in the event of postponement/cancellation by Hopefield because of extreme weather.
