About this Event
As we move into the season of gratitude, come together with us this November at Sip and Sonder for a Canvas Swap Party that celebrates the power of community. In partnership with Sonder Impact, this workshop will focus on the theme of giving thanks and channeling that gratitude into creative expression using coffee and tea as our paints.
We’ll be inspired by the bold, layered works of Basquiat, learning about his unique ability to blend art, culture, and social commentary. Through this, you’ll create your own gratitude journal—an artistic tribute to the people and places you appreciate most. Our time together will also include an exploration of jazz history, a soundtrack that has inspired so many cultural movements, and an art-therapeutic practice to center your mind and emotions as you create.
Workshop Highlights:
- Paint with coffee and tea: Explore this mindful, meditative art form using everyday ingredients.
- Create a gratitude journal: Craft a personalized book that reflects your appreciation and stories of community.
- Art therapy session: A space for reflection, connection, and creativity, inspired by Basquiat’s work.
- Learn jazz history: Dive into the musical genre that’s deeply tied to cultural expression and resilience.
- Canvas Swap: Collaborate and exchange your work with others to create art that speaks to gratitude and connection.
Once again, we’ll be gathering at Sip and Sonder, with 30% of the proceeds supporting Sonder Impact and their mission. We invite a donation of $11-$33 per person, but no one will be turned away. It’s an opportunity to celebrate art, community, and gratitude together in a soulful and immersive environment.
