On the first evening of this workshop, we will meet at the Bristol Freighter Monument and carpool to a collecting site to gather the willow that we will later use to make several willow baskets. Participants will be required to wrap their willow in plastic and store it outside to keep it fresh until the creating weekend. We will meet again over 7 evening sessions to create willow baskets. Participants will learn the basic stake and strand method of round willow basketmaking plus several of common willow weaves. A handle can be added if desired. Depending on the size of your baskets, you should be able to make two baskets, and may be able to make more if you do some homework. Participants who have previously taken a full weekend willow basketry class with this instructor may be able to complete more advanced projects.
