About this Event
For Ages 18+ – Break the boundaries of basketry with flexible and creative applications to create unique, contemporary designs. Using natural materials, dyeing, soaking, and shaping, learn traditional historical methods of basketry according to different origins of their making. Explore the history and environmental aspects of the media, such as traditional baskets from the British Isles, the South Pacific, and North America, from Shakers in New England to various forms by Indigenous people of the Middle and Southwestern USA, and more! Recommended supply lists will be reviewed and distributed in the first class meeting, although many supplies will also be provided.
