About this Event
Students will weave a lovely reed basket in a traditional Polish tatza basket pattern. Usually made from willow, we will be using hand-dyed rattan (reed) in one of two sizes for either a small basket for use with fruit, rolls, cookies, and the like or a medium basket suitable for bread or display. Students will receive a printed pattern and a choice of colored reeds.
Additional material fee ($15 - small basket, $35 - medium basket) to be paid in cash at class.

About the instructor:
Making things out of fibers has been Kimberley Harding’s passion since she was a child. Until being introduced to basketry by Jackie Abrams and Lois Russell in 2015 and 2016, she primarily worked with textile materials. She joined the Northeast Basketmakers Guild in 2016 and has increased her basketry knowledge from the many wonderful teachers at the annual Gathering, as well as at other basketry events. Now as a sculptural artist she works with a wide variety of materials, though rooted in textile and basketry techniques. She has shown her work throughout the US and recently had a solo show at Maine Audubon in Falmouth. She resides in Portland.
