About this Event
Next Tuesday 27th Jan, the volunteer task will be working both upstream and downstream from Spanton’s Wharf by the Boundary Road Recreation Park in Woking.
As you will most probably know it is the 60th anniversary of the Canal Society and they will be launching Kitty II from there in April.
This is our chance to do an additional winter cut back of vegetation, ready for visiting boats and celebrations, but also the best time to fish out the stray patches of Hydroctoyle (Floating Pennyweed) along the bank in the navigation before it gets a chance to regrow. There are lots of patches along the stretch, but they are small and easy to lift out as the volunteers have been busy on the Conver weedlifter removing the matted blankets.
Parking is limited so please car share when possible. We will be parking within the Boundary Road Recreation Park in Woking, GU21 5BU ///spine.hugs.needed - the Ranger will unlock the gate on arrival so please do not arrive before 0930.
