About this Event
Lecture and hands-on training of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) proper form, place, finish, and cure techniques including:
1. Basic concrete technology
2. Concrete materials and mix proportioning
3. Concrete control tests
4. Proper use of finishing tools
5. Placing, consolidation, and finishing
6. Edging, jointing, curing, and protection
If possible, please have your participants bring whatever concrete finishing tools they have available to this training. Tools to bring include: Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves, etc.), Screed board, Bull float, Fresno trowel, Mag float, Steel trowel, Edger, Groover and Broom. This class will include placing and finishing concrete in ten 4'x4' sections so there will be an opportunity for everyone to get in the mud and experience concrete finishing. (Maximum number of students is 32)

Bill has presented numerous work force development classes through Tidewater Community College in concrete technology throughout Hampton Roads. Additionally, he has been teaching Civil Engineering Technologies for 18 years for the Virginia Community College System. He also participates with the three American Society for Testing and Materials main educational committees, including the American Concrete Institute and National Ready Mix Concrete Association.
