About this Event

Afrikindness, in collaboration with Meshebah Community Interest Company, proudly presents a transformative safeguarding training tailored for African communities in Leeds.

About the training

Many parents in African communities face challenges in recognizing signs of harm and uncertainty about the steps to take when safeguarding concerns arise, especially within the context of cultural and faith traditions.

Unaddressed safeguarding concerns can escalate, potentially leading to serious interventions by social services, which may disrupt family life and result in long-term consequences for both parents and children.

Join us for a vital Basic Safeguarding Session for Parents in African Communities, designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities within our cultural context. This free session offers practical guidance on recognizing signs of abuse, responding to concerns, and creating safer environments for children and vulnerable individuals within your household and community.

During the session, we will explore:

  • The role of African communities in safeguarding.
  • How to identify and report safeguarding concerns.
  • Building safer spaces at home and in community settings.
  • Practical steps to ensure the safety of children and families.

Reflective Questions for You:
  • Do you know what safeguarding looks like in your home and community?
  • Are you equipped to act if a child or vulnerable adult is at risk?
  • How would you respond to a safeguarding concern in your community?

Your presence at this event will empower you to take the right steps toward safeguarding your family and others in the community.

Bonus: Enjoy complimentary refreshments as we engage in this important discussion.
