This workshop is taught in three nightly session It is advised to take the 'Rod Building Primer' before attending this workshop.
Let's get hands-on! We've got you covered with all the materials and tools for this fun workshop.
You'll learn the basic techniques necessary to assemble your own custom fishing rod. Each participant will build a 6'6" medium action spinning rod, from an IM6 graphite blank.
Topics covered include:
· Finding the rod spine
· Prepping guides and handles for installation
· Guide spacing
· Basic guide wraps
· Applying epoxy
The course will be limited to 12 students due to space limitations. Pre-registration is required. Due to the length and complexity of this program, it is not recommended for youth under the age of 16 years old.
This workshop requires approximately 8 -10 hours to complete. Students will work at their own pace under guidance from staff and volunteers.
Once completed rods may be taken home, Note: (final coat of epoxy takes 8 hours to dry). Starting the following business day, rods may be picked up at the convenience of the participant.
