WELCOME!**This class involves the handling of firearms, live ammunition and the State of Ohio regulations, please take a moment to review all the information provided for you below.**
This Basic Pistol | Concealed Carry Course is taught by Nationally Certified Firearms Instructors. Upon successful completion of this course you will earn your Certificate of Competency as required by the State of Ohio to obtain your Concealed Handgun License.
We teach the entire course in a one-day session. The course consists of 6 hours of classroom and two hours on a shooting range, as required by the State of Ohio.

- Proper Safety and Storage of Pistol and Ammunition
- Pistol & Ammunition Mechanisms & Operation
- Maintenance, Selection, & Use of Pistol and Ammunition .
- Fundamental Pistol Shooting Skills
- Handbook and how to apply for your CHL
- Ohio Concealed Carry Laws
- Students must be legally eligible to handle a firearm (below)
- Students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent.*
*We do not recommend this course for students under the age of 14 due to the length of the course. We do offer a course called FIRST SHOTS for most ages!
WHAT'S INCLUDED:
- Use of a .22 handgun
- .22LR ammunition
- Range fees
- Target
- Eye protection
- Ear protection
- Pepperoni Pizza Lunch Included
- Your Driver's license or other form of identification
- A sweatshirt or jacket on cold days (the range can get cold!)
- Beverages and snacks. We bring in pizza but it's along day!
- You may bring your own firearm - if you do please provide 30-50 rounds of ammunition for it, and please transport it legally.
- Firearms are not permitted the classroom; please leave in your vehicle
ELIGIBILTY FOR CONCEALED CARRY COURSES:
We handle firearms during the concealed carry course, therefore students must not have a Weapon Under Disability (WUD Charge).
A Weapon Under Disability/WUD Charge is defined by ORC as:To knowingly acquire, have, carry, or use a firearm if any of the following apply:
- The person is a fugitive from justice
- The person is under indictment or has been convicted of a felony offense of violence
- The person is under indictment or has been convicted of drug possession or abuse.
- The person is drug dependent, in danger of drug dependence, or a chronic alcoholic.
- The person is under adjudication of mental incompetence.
Having a Weapon While Under Disability or WUD charge is a F3 Gun Crime under Ohio law. A gun is a firearm under Ohio law. “Firearm” includes an unloaded firearm, and any firearm that is inoperable but that can readily be rendered operable.

ATTENDANCE POLICY:
- Arrive 5-10 minutes early, but please do not be late. You must be on time to your scheduled class and to the range. The State of Ohio sets forth time requirements that need to be met by each student and by Action Defense. Classes will begin promptly at the scheduled time, students arriving late will be asked to reschedule, and will be assessed a rescheduling fee. Due to state requirements, we cannot allow exceptions to this policy for any reason. We are glad to discuss this with you.
- *CANCELLATION POLICY: We will be happy to reschedule your class. We request that you cancel at least 48 hours before a scheduled class. Limit one reschedule per ticket. Rescheduling is subject to seating availability and/or discretion of Action Defense. Rescheduling fees may apply. No refunds.*
- Action Defense reserves the right to cancel any class due to enrollment, inclement weather or any other reason.
