A Basic Introduction to Poultry Showing session, including a briefing by DNRE Field Officers on Avian Influenza, is being held at our Club pavilion at Brighton Showgrounds, Pontville (entry off Glen Lea Rd) on Saturday the 8th of March from 10am - 1pmTopics covered:
* An introduction to the Australian Poultry Standards - What are they and why are they important
*How to select birds for showing
*How to find shows to enter and how to fill in entry forms
*Preparation of birds in the weeks before a show
*How to clean, wash and dry birds for the show
*Transporting your birds safely
*What to expect when you arrive at show with your bird
*Tips for ensuring your bird is calm and stress free at a show
*Tips to help with your bird's presentation on the day
*Understanding what happens when your bird is judged
*A typical day at a show and what to expect
*Egg classes - how to enter eggs in a show
Please bring pen and paper (or tablet etc) to take notes on the day.
Attendance is via donation to the Southern Tasmanian Poultry Club Inc on the day (receipt will be provided)
