Basic DrawingSaturdays, June 8-29

This course will introduce students to basic aspects of drawing. We will focus on realism and drawing from a still life. Develop your observational and rendering skills using pencil, charcoal and other media while learning the fundamentals of composition. Create the illusion of realistic space by employing perspective and other design elements. Before long, you will discover that you can draw!

newsprint or any drawing pad 18x24 or larger
medium vine charcoal
charcoal pencil(s)
kneaded eraser
About the instructor:
Kagan is a resident artist of the Contemporary Art Center. She has studied at the New York Academy of Art and believes learning is a lifelong refinement of pursued interests. Her current focus is on figures and things that represent us and our connections to one another. She uses coffee as one of her main mediums in her work through which she explores different interpretations of shared vulnerabilities of our human experience.
