Are you familiar with kendo? If not, then we have good news for you, since our next basic course begins on Friday 5.9.2025! For those willing to try something new, we will teach some basics of kendo. Despite of our focus on an old martial art, we are an internationally-minded and friendly club that welcomes all students to join us. We will offer you physical exercises and ways to improve discipline together with some cozy breakfast sessions after practising kendo. In addition to that, we will provide wooden swords for your training, those being the shinai and the bokuto. The only equipment that you need to bring with you are sweatpants, simple as that! To support experimenting this hobby, the first week is on the house. If you are willing to continue after that, you will need to enroll to the course on the online service Suomisport and get your license and insurance at a minimum.I
If this sounded promising, come to our club in the City Centre Campus, as we practise in Porthania building (Yliopistonkatu 3). We practise from 7:00 AM to 8:15 AM, so in order to get into the building and the changing room, be ready to be in front of Porthania at 6:45 at latest (it is quite early, but as you know, the early bird catches the worm). Most importantly, be prepared to have fun by swinging a sword!
