Our CERT course empowers community members with vital preparedness skills, hands-on training, and teamwork torespond effectively during local emergencies.
This is a 3-day training course; Wednesday-Friday, 8:30am-4pm.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, initiated by Hope DeSoto Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG), aims to enhance DeSoto County’s disaster resilience by focusing on resident education, preparedness, and limited response activation. The program prioritizes training volunteers in basic disaster preparedness (e.g., first aid, fire safety) and establishing teams in RV communities, rural areas, and churches, with 1–5 teams per area. Response activation will be minimal, serving as "eyes and ears" for professional responders during initial disaster phases, with potential medical assistance if responders are delayed.
