We are ensuring that generations now and in the future know that Cinco de Mayo’s history is more than a party, it’s a symbol of resilience, strength, and cultural pride. We are TAKING IT BACK and reclaiming our story! Our roots run deep in the Westside and across Kansas City, MO and KS and beyond. This land holds the footprints of our ancestors, their struggles, and their victories.
WHY WE MARCH:
✅ Defend our culture – No more commercialized misrepresentation.
✅ Stand up for our Brown LGBTQIA+ and immigrant families – We fight for dignity, equality, and the right to exist without fear.
✅ Showcase our roots – Uplifting the history of Chicano, Latino, and Indigenous communities
✅ Honor our ancestors – Knowing our history is vital to protecting our future.
✅ Celebrate our comunidad – Our voices matter, and our stories must be told.
The fight for justice and recognition didn’t start today and it won’t end here. This is about who we are, where we come from, and where we’re going.
