Barrel Bash 2025 – A Cultivation of the best of South African Barrel-Aged BeerBarrel Bash Beer Festival is a first of it’s kind in South Africa. It’s a celebration of oak, time, and the mystery of barrel aging beer.
Barrel-aged beers are the crown jewels of the craft beer world. They spend months or years maturing in wood. This slow transformation unlocks a new world of flavor drawn from the character of the oak, the spirit or wine that once filled it, or a tertiary fermentation deep within the barrel itself.
This event celebrates South Africa’s most passionate brewers, as they raid their cellars and roll out the barrels to showcase some of their finest creations.
Your ticket includes a tasting glass and 10 tasters of rare, limited, and mind-bending barrel-aged beers — from rich, spirit-soaked stouts and barleywines to funky mixed-fermentation ales. Expect layers of complexity, native microflora, and the kind of depth and flavor that only patience and provenience can produce.
We’ll also be unveiling this year’s vintage of Icenator, our legendary Eisbock — South Africa’s strongest beer — alongside a few other hidden gems from deep within the Soul Barrel cellar.
