Barnabas is a listening prayer Learning Lab that will give you practical tips to stretch your listening muscles in a safe and fun environment to try out what you are learning.Barnabas meets on the first Tuesday of the month from 7pm until 9pm (October until June)
LOCATION:
We meet at the GOHOP Prayer Room, located at 1907 King St. E. in the Flourish Building (across from the Metro grocery store). Please enter through the front doors.
PARKING:
The parking lot is located behind the building.
ABOUT BARNABAS:
Barnabas Listening Prayer is a diverse Christian community with people of many ages and from many different backgrounds. We have been exploring listening prayer together since 2011.
We believe that listening prayer is a beautiful component to having a vibrant relationship with God. Prayer is simply communicating with God. It involves listening to what is on God's heart in addition to expressing what is on our own.
We create opportunities for people to learn, practice and grow in their ability to hear and notice God in their daily lives. Together we explore the many ways God communicates with us, as well as biblical methods of understanding and applying what we have heard.
Evenings generally include a brief biblical overview of the evening’s particular focus, free and open discussions, times for listening and exercises to increase our sensitivity to God.
The name Barnabas was borrowed from the travelling companion of the Apostle Paul. It means son of encouragement. Like Barnabas in the bible, we earnestly desire to encourage the church.
Proverbs 3:6-7 "Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the only one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume you know it all."
