Welcome to Barista Training: Skills for the Future!
Who’s it for?
High school students in the Mackay Region who are keen to learn a valuable, hands-on skill. No prior experience needed.
What you’ll learn:
In this fun, practical training session, you’ll get to:
- Use professional espresso machines & grinders
- Pull and judge espresso shots – what to look for, what to avoid
- Steam milk to make latte art (no promises on perfection, but you’ll try!)
- Make popular café drinks like lattes, flat whites, and cappuccinos
- Understand coffee bean types, grind size, and how these affect flavour
- Develop safe, clean, and efficient work habits – what cafés expect
