In this workshop you will be making an item using Bargello tapestry. This is a form of tapestry using geometric patterns in yarn and on mesh. All materials and instructions will be provided as well as extra mesh to take home for a larger project. Cost £22.50 Maximum 6 places available. (Bargello is a type of needlepoint embroidery consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. The name originates from a series of chairs found in the Bargello palace in Florence. Traditionally, Bargello is stitched in wool on canvas, and is remarkably durable. It can be used in cushions, upholstery and even carpets. In the traditional pieces, stitches are vertical with then going over two or more threads. Traditional designs are very colourful, the patterns are naturally geometric, but other designs can be created. Bargello can be challenging, as it requires precise counting of squares for the mathematical patterns to develop.)
