Making ferry travel in Troms more predictable: Smarter queue management for a growing tourism industryTraveling by ferry in Troms during the summer can be unpredictable. The explosive growth of tourism in northern Norway has put increasing pressure on ferries and infrastructure. Through an interdisciplinary design thinking process involving users, crew, and domain experts, we are exploring smarter solutions. By enhancing today’s first-come, first-served queueing system with high-quality live information and better queue management, we aim to shorten wait times and make ferry travel more predictable.
