This lecture will illuminate the often-overlooked history of Ukrainian Canadians during World War I. Following the outbreak of war in 1914, many Ukrainian Canadians were unjustly labeled as "enemy aliens" and faced internment, resulting in significant personal and community consequences. Professor Luciuk will explore the context and implications of Canada’s first national internment operations, highlighting the urgent need for atonement and recognition of this historical injustice.
