An in-person workshop for community leaders and neighbors who are concerned aboutĀ nuisance liquor stores and barsĀ in their neighborhoods.
About this Event

Our workshop will cover the requirements for community members protesting the renewal of a liquor license in Baltimore City.

What are your community's options for dealing with a nuisance bar or liquor store? Whether you already have a detailed log of code violations and just want to check that you're as ready as possible to protest the renewal of their license - OR - whether you feel totally clueless, learn more in this workshop.

About the Presenter

Denice Ko, Esq., is Deputy Director at Community Law Center. Ms. Ko counsels community associations and other nonprofit organizations in capacity building and nonprofit best practices; and represents nonprofits in a range of contract, tax exemption, and compliance matters. She joined Community Law Center in late 2017 as a volunteer attorney and became a staff attorney in 2019. Ms. Ko graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law and is a member of the Maryland Bar.

Who should register?

This workshop is for community leaders and neighbors with concerns about a nuisance liquor store or bar in their neighborhood.

Cost to attend the workshop

The cost for one person to attend the workshop is $30. Additional attendees from the same organization may sign up for a discounted rate! (Two participants from the same organization can pay $25 each).

Accessing the Workshop

This workshop will be presented in-person at the office of Community Law Center at 3355 Keswick Road in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore City. Free parking is available.

Photo Waiver

Attendees of Community Law Center events grant permission to appear in photographs used in publications, including printed materials, and electronic formats including website entries, without payment or any other consideration.

Required Declaration Forms

Registrants will need to complete a brief form declaring the average household income for the organization (not for any individual). This paperwork is required by our funders for Community Law Center to keep in our records for informational purposes only.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING LIQUOR LICENSE PROTESTS

If your Baltimore City community association would like our assistance to protest a liquor license during the 2026 renewal season, you MUST submit a complete application to Community Law Center. Each year, licenses are renewed in the Spring, so our deadline to apply for CLC assistance in your liquor license renewal protest is in early February, as it takes time to draft and sign petitions, and prepare your case.

CLC's application for legal services is found at: https://communitylaw.org/applying-for-legal-services-instructions.
