About this Event
In 2023, the American Library Association (ALA) documented 4,240 unique book titles targeted for censorship - a 65% increase over the previous year. Public libraries have been impacted with a 92% increase in targeted titles. Many of these books are targeted because they share LGBTQIA+ stories, are deemed sexually explicit, or address racism through the characters' experience. Some of these instances have occured in Wake and surrounding counties. NC State students create a performance drawn from banned and challenged books that personally impact them
Students will read excepts from select books in an evening of live staged readings.
