Join North Hills Progressive Neighbors and Red, Wine, and Blue to honor Banned Books Week 2024!This year's theme for Banned Book Week is Freed Between the Lines. We can find freedom in the pages of a book — but book bans and censorship threaten that freedom, along with many other rights and institutions.
We'll kick off the event with a presentation on book banning by Carrie Wardzinski, the Regional Organizer of Red Wine & Blue for the Greater Pittsburgh Area.
Then, we break out the bingo cards! Banned Book Bingo is a fun and engaging way to bring awareness to the issues of censorship and book banning. Banned Book Bingo works similarly to regular bingo, but as the books are called, the accompanying reason for why the books have been banned is also read.
Tickets provide attendees lunch, mimosas, crafts, and bingo! Tickets can be purchased at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/bingolunch.
Tickets are limited to 65 attendees so please don't wait.
Every kid goes home with a book, in addition to our wonderful prizes! During Banned Books Week 2024 and beyond, let’s share our love of the right to read and the freedom found in books. Let’s be Freed Between the Lines!
