On Saturday, June 29, 2024, American Banjo Museum will present their annual youth event: BANJO FARM. The day, featuring music/comedy concerts by Lucas Ross (Outreach & Promotion), includes an instrument playground – where kids can try out instruments, basic banjo workshops, banjo crafts and fun for the whole family!
“This is the third year for this event,” says Lucas, “I love that we can host this form of outreach! When kids are excited about music, it opens new doors. The Oklahoma Opry returns with their ‘instrument playground’ so kids can get a real feel for the instruments and what it's like to play. One of the greatest gifts I was given was being handed an instrument. I love that there is a day dedicated to that here at our museum.”
Ross has been with the banjo museum officially since 2018 and in addition to his role at the museum provides banjo tracks for Disney’s THE MUPPETS STUDIO, recently playing live for Kermit as the amphibian duetted with Willie Nelson performing "Rainbow Connection."
“I would have never had a fraction of the opportunities given to me, if it wasn’t for music being introduced into my life,” Ross added, “I hope to give that same chance to the youth attending on June 29.”
Banjo Farm runs from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 29. Admission is free for kids 15 and under, and half price for adults. This event is made possible through sponsors: KFOR-TV, Metro Family Magazine, and Oklahoma Opry.
