About Bangla Adda: Originally from Bangladesh and specializing in Bengali cuisine, Chef Afruza owns and operates Bangla Adda Bengali Cuisine with her husband Abu and daughter Sanika. Chef Afruza is excited to bring back her beloved kati rolls, a fan-favorite throughout Bangla Adda's residency at Nibble Kitchen, made from hand-rolled paratha flatbread, grilled to order, and filled with delicious chicken bhuna or niramesh veggie curry.
Since her graduation from the Nibble residency program Bangla Adda has pivoted to focus mostly on catering, vending at City and cultural festivals, and selling prepared curries and snacks at the Somerville Farmers' Market.
Afruza has been active in community organizing ever since arriving in the United States and continues that work today, advocating for immigrant and lower-income communities and working to help cultivate a strong sense of pride and belonging in the Bengali community here in Somerville.
About the Program:
Nibble Kitchen is proud to re-introduce our Supper Club Program! Many members of the Nibble Community do not have the bandwidth (or desire) to take on the full Chef-in-Residency Program, but still want the opportunity to grow their businesses and showcase their cultures and cuisines. Programs like this Supper Club enable Nibble members to gain valuable experience in kitchen operations management, connect with the Somerville community, showcase their cuisine and culture, and mitigate the risks of a traditional pop-up by selling tickets ahead of time!
