A weekend drum and dance retreat situated in the Hinterlands of Cairns, by the beautiful Emerald Creek, Tropical Far North Queensland. Immerse yourself in elemental rhythms and dances, empowering your abilities to create harmoniously. This unique experience will be enabled by legendary composer, multi-instrumentalist, dancer and medium Chris Berry.
Over the course of the retreat, Chris will guide us in 3 full days of playing and dancing his African inspired musical arrangements.
These are offered through the example of Chris’s "Bana Kuma", literally meaning sacred altering, or the process by which thoughts become reality.
3 full days of drum and dance, 4 nights of camping under the stars, with jams, music and storytelling by the fire side.
The camp will culminate in a drum and dance ceremony intended to empower the personal intentions of all who contribute their energy.
No previous drumming or dancing experience is necessary.
The camp venue consists of two large covered wooden decks, one being the dining/ chill space, and the other where the workshops will be held.
The amazing crystal clear waters of Emerald Creek are only a minute’s walk from the camp, with the majestic Emerald Creek Falls accessible by a 20 minute walk.
Juan of "Burro's Kitchen" will be catering the event, with vegetarian and omnivorous diets catered for. Please provide any dietary requirements in the booking form. Lunch and Dinner are catered, with breakfast options and coffee available for purchase in the mornings.

Full Camp (Friday - Monday)

From 21 March- $780 with catering/ $580 with no catering

About Chris Berry:-
Grammy award winner Chris Berry is an eclectic singer and songwriter, multi-instrumentalist virtuoso, and high-energy performer and teacher.
Chris began his musical journey as a youth inspired by the incredible melodics of the Zimbabwean Mbira. His passion for the instrument and the culture that created it led him to live amongst the Shona tribe of Zimbabwe for many years, where he was bestowed with the title Gwenyambira meaning ‘one whose music calls the spirits.’
Chris then embarked upon a journey to share the great potential of musical creation with communities worldwide, using story-telling, melodic instrumentalism, song, drumming and movement to activate a phenomenon known as N’jinji (literally a channel that opens between the physical and spirit realms).
This is the high-vibrational sensation that musicians sense when everything is ‘in the pocket,’ and when time and space seem to lose their hold. The state of mind this invokes creates the ultimate condition for healing and ancestral communion.
