A commemoration of the 36th anniversary of the Baltic Way on 23 August 1989, where 2 million people joined hands from Tallinn to Rīga to Vilnius to protest the 50th anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. That pact between Nazi Germany and Stalin's Soviet Union sentenced the people of the Baltic States to 50+ years behind the Iron Curtain.
