A tribute to one of the richest and most exciting chapters of the 20th century in the world of art and culture.
With pictures and selected works this concert would like to celebrate this fascinating time.
On May 19 1909 after weeks of public relations work Serge P. Diaghilev started his first season of the Ballets Russes in Paris. As the driving force of the ballet company Diaghilev gathered a wide range of composers choreographers designers and performers but retained ultimate control over every aspect of the productions. His greatest achievement was to ensure the tight integration of story music choreography and design creating spectacles where the overall impact exceeded the roles.
The unprecedented combination of so many talents and arts made the Ballets Russes appear to many as a total work of art in a new way.
