Ballet Under the Stars 2021 - "The Show Must Go On!"

Our season will close on June 2nd-4th as we film our annual event Ballet Under the Stars at the Zilker Hillside Theater. The video production will be shared with our audience on June 25th. As always, this will be a free-to-attend performance.

For more than 25 years, Metamorphosis Dance has kicked off the summer at the Zilker Hillside Theater. This year, despite its many challenges, will be no different. Ballet Under the Stars: "The Show Must Go On!” will be rehearsed and filmed June 2nd-4th and available for viewing later this month.

We decided "the show must go on" was the most appropriate name for this show and really, for this season. Our artists have endured so much because of the pandemic, plus a flood temporarily took away their studio home. If one word could describe their attitude throughout, it would be resilient. They embodied the phrase “the show must go on” every time they rehearsed and performed with masks on their faces and for empty theaters. To close out this unusual year, they will be presenting a variety of works that portray many different feelings and thoughts, but all with remarkable artistry and graceful grit.

We dedicate this show to the dancers around the world and other dance companies that found creative and innovative ways to keep dance alive and relevant during the past year. It was not easy, but it was worth it, and we are proud to stand with you. We extend our gratitude to our friends in the community who donated their time and resources to help us recover from the flood. Round Rock Repertory Dance Company and The Dance Spot, we are so thankful for the time and space in your studios so that we could keep our dancers doing what they love and preparing this wonderful show.

Next season, we hope to see all our friends and supporters back in theater seats. Until then, please enjoy our final offering of Ballet Under the Stars: “The Show Must Go On!”

Tickets are free. Please get your tickets in order to help us keep track of the number of attendees.

Filming will start at approximately 8pm each night, June 2nd-June 4th; the link to the video will be shared with you on June 25th and you will have until July 31st to watch it as often as you like.
