- We now generate more than 1.6 million tons of waste every year. A significant portion of it leaks into rivers and the ocean.
- A tourist in Bali uses on average 3 to 10 times more water per day than a local resident — through hotels, swimming pools, laundry, golf courses, and landscaping.
- More than 50% of Bali’s coral reefs are under threat from warming seas, pollution, and coastal pressure.
And tourism? Tourism is both our blessing and our risk. It contributes a massive part of Bali and Indonesia’s economy but it also puts enormous pressure on land, water, waste systems, culture, and communities.
