For the months of April and May we invite you to enjoy the balance and beauty of Paul Gallo’s impressionistic paintings at Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery (LPF). Much has changed in the world since Gallo’s brilliant paintings last graced the gallery walls of LPF but what remains constant is the vitality and harmony one can expect to find in his en plein air creations where ephemeral moments are captured in bold confident brushstrokes. Join us for the artist opening reception on First Friday April 5 2024 from 5pm to 8pm in our Gallery. The exhibit will run until Saturday June 1 2024.
Paul Gallo enjoys utilizing the tactile quality of oils and paints in a representational manner. He strives to create paintings that have confident brushwork paint handling and color. Each painting he creates is an honest effort to create a work of art though he humbly claims that his work is purely representational and “nothing profound”. Inspired by all things visual his primary area of interest is painting en plein air. His confident brushstrokes gently guide his viewers out of the moment and into the serenity of his landscapes. Gallo was born in Philipsburg PA and now works from his home studio in Middletown. He attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Harrisburg Area Community College and then obtained an MFA from Syracuse University. Working to perfect his craft Gallo has also attended many workshops with renowned artists over the years and hosts workshops of his own. He currently teaches college level painting drawing illustration and design at HACC the Art Institute of York York College Penn State York and Penn State Harrisburg.
Gallo is a current member of the Harrisburg area outdoor oil painting group “Seven Lively Artists.” The group has been in existence for over sixty years with nineteen active members. He has been in many juried shows and museum exhibits over the years including the Washington County Museum of Fine Art Juried Show in Hagerstown Maryland Rivertown Plein Air Show in Marietta Pennsylvania where he received First Place in the Juried Artists category in 2023 Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts where he received the Juror Award in 2023 Mt. Gretna Festival of the Arts where he received the Juror Award in 2023 Mechanicsburg Art Center where he received the Best of Show Miniatures in 2023 the Rittenhouse Square Outdoor Art Show in Philadelphia and Art of the State at The State Museum of Pennsylvania.
Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery has been serving the regional artistic community since 1999. Aside from professional and quality archival custom framing its gallery regularly features exhibitions of local artists as well as unique handcrafted gift items such as jewelry paintings ceramics sculptures and more.
