"On July 1st of 2024, Bailey had 3 seizures in 20 mins making her blue and unresponsive. She also lost air flow and the ability to breathe properly durning that time. A week later, the doctors found her heart was inflamed and had fluid around it. Her cardiologist has since cleared her heart but now Bailey has been having seizures on a regular basis.
We had a sleep test done at the beginning of December 2024 and we got Baileys test results back. And she has been officially diagnosed with Severe Sleep Apnea and Hypopnea caused by Pediatric Facial Blockages. Bailey is the most severe case of Paediatric Hypopnea and Apnea that our sleep consultant has ever seen. As a result of her not breathing properly for quite some time the sleep consultant believes that there are scars in Baileys brain caused by the lack of oxygen at night. With the scars in her brain already there, the events on July 1st have made the scars bigger causing her to have Epileptic Seizures. Bailey is on anti seizure medication to control her seizures.
The sleep consultant urgently wants Bailey to have surgery to fix her facial blockages but we are still waiting to hear from a Nose, Throat, and Ear Specialist to move forward with surgery. We have recently found out that the consultation will take between 3-6 months and the surgery is a 12-24 month wait. The sleep consultant would also like Bailey to have a CPAP machine but they are very limited in Canada. We are still waiting on a MRI but that is a year and a half wait because of the risk to her heart with the sedation we are only allowed to do it at a the children’s hospital." - Trent and Jessica Severtson.
With the above events and hurdles some of the community members have decided to throw a benefit auction for Bailey to raise funds to apply towards her medical bills and speed up her recovery. Since Alberta Health Care can take a long time (approx 3 year wait), Trent and Jessica have reached out to the children's hospital in Texas and the paediatric Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota to expedite the process to ensure Bailey gets the care she needs in a timely fashion.
The cost of these necessary treatments will be around $50,000.
We are planning on having a silent and live auction of items with proceeds going towards the cost of Baileys surgeries and recovery. Any potential left over funds after her surgeries and treatment will be donated between the Spruce View community groups and the Alberta Children's Hospitals.

This is a child friendly event so you are welcome to bring the kiddos!
Silent auction will start promptly at 5:00pm along with a taco bar by donation and bar. Live auction will take place at 6:00 pm. Silent auction will run till 8:00 pm. Auction is in person but bids can be placed over the phone if need be. After the auction attendees are more than welcome to stay and visit with the family!
