Join us for an awesome mix of bachata, focusing on the best sensual tracks and remixes, along with salsa and a smattering of kizomba and zouk. We welcome everyone, from the absolute beginner to the most experienced dancer. Weāre all about the joy of social dancing together.
And what makes a free party with great people even better? A free beginnersā bachata lesson with some of Wellingtonās best Latin dance teachers. If youāve never danced bachata, Latin dance or even any other dance style before then this is the perfect lesson for you. We will have you dancing like a pro in no time!
Bailamos Bachata is hosted free of charge by the Southern Cross. They love the atmosphere we bring but we also need to support them in return. Weāre asking everyone attending to purchase soft drinks, food or alcohol from the bar. Itās vital we show our gratitude.

A. Bachata is a popular and fun Latin couples dance. It started in the Dominican Republic, then travelled to Europe and the rest of the world. It now includes a wide range of music styles and dance influences and is still changing and evolving.
Q. I havenāt danced before, is that a problem?
A. Not at all! Thatās exactly what the lesson is for ā everyone has to start somewhere and weāre a very welcoming crowd for beginners.

A. Its origins as a party/community dance mean the basics can be learnt quite quickly, so youāll be enjoying yourself in no time.
