Walking Tours of Baggotonia, Baggot Street and Beyond,
from The Dylan Hotel
About this Event
Located in the heart of historic Dublin, Dylan's neighbourhood is steeped in both ancient and modern Irish history. It displays examples of Dublin's finest architecture and is enriched by Baggotonia, the bohemian culture created by the artists and literary figures who made Baggot Street their home from the 1940's to the 70's.
The Dylan has created this walking tour to help visitors, locals and Baggotonia Festival participants alike to explore the area further by bringing the streetscape to life; telling the history and tales of a handful of its most colourful characters.
This 50 minute self-guided walking tour is best enjoyed by simultaneously listening to the episodes available at the Dylan website and following the route on the printed map. The Dylan walking tours map is available here, or at the front desk of the hotel, for Festival participants, neighbours and friends with the hotel's compliments.
The route is a loop from the hotel through Georgian Dublin, up Baggot Street to Merrion Square and the National Gallery and returning down via Upper Mount Street, the Grand Canal and back to the hotel. Enjoy the tour at your own pace, pausing it at any stage to explore an attraction, visit a local Baggotonia bar and pick back up where you left off!
This event is kindly organised by the Dylan Hotel on behalf of Baggotonia Festival. For more visit https://www.dylan.ie/
