The LEAD Sport Pathway offers Perth and Kinross Council school pupils the opportunity to undertake introductory sports coaching/leadership qualifications. This is a great way to develop communication and leadership skills, build confidence, gain recognised qualifications and experience in sports coaching.

Course Details

The Badminton Basics course is a practical course which aims to introduce fun games and basic fundamental skills for badminton and is the first step on the Badminton Scotland coaching pathway.

Date: Tuesday 8 October

Time: 13:00-17:00hrs

Venue: North Inch Community Campus, Gowan's Terrace, PERTH

What to bring on the day:

Pen/pencil & notepad

Badminton racket if you have one (rackets will also be provided)

Water bottle/snack (nothing containing nuts)

The course will be practical so please wear sports clothing and trainers.


Terms & Conditions

As part of the project, you will be expected to volunteer at least 10 hours in a school or community club setting. Your Active Schools Co-ordinator (who is based at your school) can help you find a local placement. These hours can also be assigned to other awards (e.g. Duke of Edinburgh, Saltire Award)

  • School staff will not be present during the course.
  • Pupils will not be supervised if they leave the Campus at breaktimes/lunchtime
  • Pupils must arrange their own travel arrangements to and from the course
  • Courses may involve work before, during and after the event which must be completed in order to gain the qualification
  • The course is only available to pupils age 14yrs+ from Perth and Kinross Council schools
  • You will receive email notification through our Eventbrite registration process of your confirmed place on the course
  • You must inform the organiser if you are unable to do the course at least one week before (where possible) so your place can be offered to someone else. If you fail to attend without informing the organiser you will be charged the full value of the course and no refunds can be provided.
