Step back to the Civil War and join the 1st Wisconsin in the late summer of 1862, shortly after being reformed as a 3-year regiment. Throughout the weekend military reenactors will be conducting infantry drills, firing demonstrations, and sharing camp life during the months prior to the battle of Perryville, Kentucky, in the fall of 1862. Activities include:
- Troops marching and drilling
- See sutlers (traveling merchants who sold goods to soldiers) in the Fur Trade
- Learn how the British army recruited new soldiers and each soldier’s expectations
- See weapons of the French and Indian war including various firelocks, swivel guns, mortars and cannons
- Firing demonstrations and firelock maintenance
- 18th century tailoring, carpentry, surgeon and medicine; weaving and period dancing and games
Daily admission rates apply and may be purchased the day of. Reminder that members are free!
Saturday Hours: 9 am – 4 pm
Sunday Hours: Noon – 4 pm
