CLASS DETAILS:
This is our Essentials class – the first level of proficiency in the School of Badass Burlesque!
In level one students learn a wide array of basic tools to begin a successful burlesque career. This includes beginner's strength and flexibility, dance fundamentals, burlesque movement and strip tease, basic musicality, stage makeup, solo choreography creation, performance polish, and booking tips. This is where you start to gain muscular stability and strength, learn what it's like to be on the stage, and begin to develop the nuance that helps you look like a true dancer. Above all else, it's designed to be fun, even if you're not planning on becoming an ongoing performer!
After the class, dancers have the opportunity to take the Level 1: Essentials test. Upon passing the Level 1 test, dancers are welcomed into the Badass Burlesque student troupe for as long as they remain in good standing with their dance education.

WHAT TO WEAR:
Athletic clothing such as yoga pants and a tank top. If you would like to practice in heels, bring a pair of CLEAN, non-marking heels with a wider heel—no stilettos please! Character shoes and shoes without black soles work well. Otherwise, you are perfectly fine to dance barefoot or in jazz shoes!
PLEASE BRING:A yoga mat for warm-up and cool down, and a bottle of water.
PLEASE NOTE:
You must attend at least 6 of the 8 classes in order to perform in the student showcase. Your purchase is for this session of 8 classes only and you cannot “transfer” any missed classes into the next session of classes. There will be NO REFUNDS within 24 hours of the first class.
ABOUT KATYA:
Katya grew up on a goat farm in the Midwest. Despite attending a math- and science-focused school, she fell in love with the world of dance and never looked back, eventually hustlin' herself all the way to Seoul, South Korea. An avid belly dancer and burlesque performer, Katya eventually made it to Denver and joined the circus, as well as starting her own burlesque company, Badass Burlesque.
