About this Event
The film Bad Faith: Christian Nationalism's Unholy War on Democracy will be screened Sunday, September 29, 4:00 p.m. at Parkway United Church of Christ, 1465 Irving Street, Winston-Salem. Kyle Spencer, an award-winning journalist and New York Times contributor, will frame the discussion before and after the film. A suggested donation of $5 is requested to cover the cost of the film.
The film tells the story of the origin and aims of a highly organized grasp for power by extremists, who spread fear and anger to distort political issues and the Christian faith. The film exposes a plain truth that Christian Nationalism has never been about Christianity but raw political power. The other story the film powerful tells is how grassroots leaders of secular and faith communities are organizing to confront these extremist forces that threaten our democracy.
Kyle Spencer will be available at the end of the event to sign copies of her new book Raising The Right, chronicling the work of organizations luring millions of unsuspecting young American voters into the far-right fold.
In a conversation today, Kyle Spencer said she'd be eager to offer something to faith leaders of North Carolina on Thursday, September 26. She'll be in Elon for Parents Weekend. She's been holding workshops on how to talk with the media during this election cycle and would be pleased to gather online with North Carolina faith leaders for that kind of conversation.
