Backyard Sauna and Tiny House Building Class

We are back for a new class on how to build your own backyard sauna and tiny house!
In November and part of December, we will be teaching the construction of a beautiful cedar wood backyard sauna. Classes would be held weekends with occasional drop in options during the week. We will be teaching every aspect of a project like this, including the basics like how to use a table saw to advanced roofing techniques. Unlike previous tiny house classes, you are not required to attend every session but you must attend the first session on November 9th.
This is a great chance for you to learn basic construction techniques, have all your questions answered and make new friends! Even if you know how to use tools, we will be going over electrical, plumbing, framing, roofing, and more. There is always something to learn… heck, I’ve been doing this a long time and I can still get lost in the screw section at Home Depot. There’s so many different types of screws, there is an entire hardware store dedicated to them called Tacoma Screw. Not sure how that name made it through the marketing department.
The class will be $550 or $1000 for a couple. We understand this is an investment, but considering it costs that to replace the back tires of your car and that this class will give you skills that last your whole life, its a steal. We will have guest instructors, expert in their fields lined up. We suggest if you take this class, you should prioritize it in your schedule and get the most out of it.
Mandatory safety protocols will be required and we reserve the right to put you in timeout if you don’t pay attention during the build. You will need to provide proof of insurance, work appropriate attire, your own lunch and we strongly suggest you bring your own drill or driver. As you will see, a good drill will soon become like a member of your family. All other materials will be provided and there will be snacks in the morning. Classes will start at 11 AM and generally end at 4 PM. It’s in November in the northwest so you will have to have a good attitude about the weather and we will be working rain, or... well, more rain. Covered areas will be provided but the work will be outdoors.

Now a special note... Not to be a grizzled old contractor (which I am) or a harsh and draconian taskmaster expecting you to do exactly what I say on the site (which is true) but I will fully expect you to take safety and directions seriously. This will provide you with the skill to work under an experienced general contractor in the future. Please come with a teachable attitude and understand, if it was easy (which it is not), everyone would be doing it. That being said, learning to fix and build things is remarkably satisfying and will add to your life significantly. Plus, it's fun. I look forward to meeting you!
