Join Waukesha County Land Conservancy and Wild Ones (Kettle Moraine Chapter) for a special private tour of the Bryn Ayr prairies at the home of Jean and Tom Weedman on Saturday, August 16th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM to learn how you can bring a prairie to your own backyard.
Prairie is the most endangered ecosystem in the world, with less than 1% remaining. What you plant in your own yard truly does make a difference. By choosing native plants specific to your region, you provide essential resources for local wildlife - supporting pollinators, birds, and other species that rely on these habitats to survive. This event will offer practical guidance on how to start a native garden, where to get native plants, how to plant them, and how to maintain and establish a thriving backyard prairie.
After the garden tour from 9AM-10AM, guests are invited to join us for an optional guided walk through the neighboring Meyer Preserve from 10AM-11AM, where you’ll see native ecosystems flourishing on a larger scale. This is a wonderful opportunity to be inspired, ask questions, and take away ideas for your own space.
