The Venango Conservation District is hosting a Backyard Conservation Workshop to provide a fun and educational day learning about conservation practices that can be implemented in your own backyard! The event will take place at the Venango Conservation District office on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 9:00am to 1:30pm. The Venango Conservation District is located at 4871 US 322, Franklin, PA 16323. The workshop will be divided into two sessions. First Session: The first session (9:00am to 10:00am) will be adult-centric and will focus on nonpoint source pollution, rain barrel usage, and rain barrel construction. The first 20 households to register will receive a discounted rain barrel at $10.00 (a $69 value!). Please note that you must attend Session #1 to receive a discounted rain barrel.
Second Session: The second session (10:30am to 1:30pm) will be family-centric and will feature rotating activity stations that include topics and activities on invasive species, backyard wildlife, and stream life. There will be time in between the stations for participants to tour the Mobile Environmental Display trailer and our vendor tables.
This event is free and open to the public. We will have light refreshments and snacks available throughout the day.
