Welcome to Houseboat Cruising!
Here is one box from our bucket list to take a close look at Indian subcontinent in a laid back, relaxing way and take a sneak peak at the rich southern Indian culture right at its origin - in Kerala!
Expect spectacular views: blue cloudy skies, lush green jungles and colorful saris of local ladies on the shores, busy with their daily tasks. We will watch it passing, in front of us, while cruising traditional house boats over the endless backwaters canals of Alleppey. Filled with rice paddies and farms, Kerala offers typical Asian landscape, which makes it a great location for cycling. We simply cant resist doing some leisure spinning there! Here is the plan packed within weekend framework:
DAY 1 FRIDAY
Meeting at Dubai T3 at 15.00 for a direct flight to Kochin on Emirates at 17.00
DAY 2 SATURDAY
Arrival to Kochi, transfer to Alleppey. Check in to hotel and rest till morning. Breakfast and log onto onboard the houseboat, start cruising. Stopover for lunch with traditional Kerala fish curry meals. Cruise continues covering beautiful rivers and canals with palm trees and small houses near to it, villages paddy fields, churches etc. A chance to taste Kerala traditional beverages made of coconuts. We will have an occasion to buy fresh prawns, crabs, karimeen from local fishermen so chef will prepare it for dinner.
By 1800 hours the boat will be anchored in an isolated area till the next day morning. At this leisure time we can explore surroundings along the riverside. Sleep in your floating paradise.
DAY 3 SUNDAY
Continue houseboat experience with several stopovers to discover the local life. After breakfast we will continue exploring the villages of Alleppey on our bikes.
Around 1 pm stop for lunch, continue cycling covering the small bridges, markets and small houses along canals.
In the early afternoon we will visit several local spots and eventually proceed to Kochi. Before we reach the airport we should have enough time to visit Kerala school, walk through Kochi old quarter along Princess Street and admire its colonial architecture.
It is going to be very difficult to say bye bye to this hidden paradise…Flight back home and arrival back to Dubai 06.50 AM.
