About this Event

Join our naturalists on a guided hike through a secluded, oak-lined canyon and experience a hidden gem, the Los Osos Wetland Trail! The hike is an out-and-back route with some uphill sections (2.2 miles total) recommended for ages 6 and up. NOTE: The trail is located about 5 miles from the main parking lot. This event is FREE, but participants must register and can choose to either ride with staff or drive a personal vehicle (recommended for high-clearance vehicles only).

Program duration includes travel time to and from trailhead.

Please plan to arrive at the Crossing parking lot by 12:45pm for check-in. From there, we will drive about 4 miles on the canyon road to the Los Osos Wetland trailhead. High-clearance vehicles are highly recommended, but 4 wheel-drive is not needed.

Space is limited! Reservations open November 15th, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.

Event is subject to cancellation due to unsafe weather conditions.

About Us

Wind Wolves Preserve is a 93,000-acre nature preserve located approximately 30 miles south of Bakersfield, and is owned and operated by The Wildlands Conservancy (TWC). The preserve is open to the public daily and visitors can enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, camping, or attend a staff led program, all free of charge.

TWC is a private, non-profit organization that operates more than 25 preserves along the west coast. Our mission is "To preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the earth and to provide programs so that children may know the wonder and joy of nature."
