❍ What Is an Ecstatic Dance Journey?
An Ecstatic Dance Journey is a free-form, guided movement experience where there’s no choreography, no judgment, and no “right” way to move. You don’t need to know how to dance—just a willingness to listen inward and let rhythm lead.
This journey begins low and slow: floor-based breathwork, somatic unwinding, and grounding movement to connect you to your body. From there, we rise into a full-bodied wave of expressive, liberatory dance—guided through energy, rhythm, and intention, not steps.
Rooted in the ritual structure of JourneyDance® and infused with Joy Okoye’s signature soul-sourced facilitation, this arc offers movement as medicine and rhythm as prayer—culminating in a deep sound healing immersion for rest, restoration, and integration.
All bodies, all backgrounds, all levels of experience are welcome.
There are no steps to follow—only your own inner rhythm to remember.

Led by Joy Okoye aka “Shakti Mama”
Blending ritual, rhythm, and raw soul, Joy Okoye (aka Shakti Mama) creates ecstatic dance journeys where the body becomes altar and the beat becomes medicine. A sacred movement facilitator, sound priestess, and genre-fluid DJ, her sets flow through ancient-future bass, tribal trance, soul-infused house, and world grooves—layered with live vocals and channelled transmission.
This Autumn Equinox, she’s taking us Back to the Beat—
a dance floor revival rooted in the Golden Era of hip hop, the soul jams of the '90s, and the healing power of embodied rhythm.
