About this Event
Schola Cantorum has been led by Frederick Jodry for the past 40 years, and is renouned for their stylish and elegant singing. This program features German sacred music by Heinrich Schütz, born exactly 100 years before JS Bach, and Johann Schein, who held the position as Thomas Choir preceeding Bach. As a 21 year old, JS Bach walked 200 miles on foot to hear the great organist Dietrich Buxtehude in Lübeck, and satyed 3 months longer then we was allowed by his church! The program inlcudes pieces by Johann Christoph Bach, one of Bach's many musical Uncles. Schola will be joined by Carol Lewis, gamba, Chris Hendricksen, lute, and Frederick Jodry organ. A reception follows the concert.
