This concert pairs the lament of Bach's Cantata 12, Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen (“Weeping, lamenting, worry, apprehension”) with the consolation of Cantata 127, Herr Jesu Christ wahr' Mensch und Gott (“Lord Jesus Christ, true man and God”), as trumpet and oboes are joined by bassoon and baroque recorders. Exquisite choral works by Byrd, Palestrina, and Arnesen round out the performance.
