About this Event
Join us for a leisurely guided bike ride through the scenic Babcock Webb Wildlife Management Area (WMA), one of the region’s largest and most ecologically significant natural areas. Our ride will follow approximately 20 miles of paved and packed shell roads, perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable cycling experience suitable for most skill levels.
Along the way, we’ll pause to observe and discuss the native plants and wildlife that call Babcock Webb home. From towering longleaf pines to endangered Red-cockaded Woodpeckers, this preserve offers a glimpse into Florida’s rich natural heritage. Your guide will share insights on the importance of protecting large, connected natural spaces like Babcock Webb—essential not only for wildlife habitat, but also for maintaining clean water and healthy ecosystems.
This program is suitable for all ages. Participants under 16 must attend with a parent or guardian and are required by Florida law to wear a helmet. Participants must provide their own bike. Please note that a daily-use permit fee of $3 per person or $6 per non-commercial vehicle is required for entrance to the WMA. Please bring CASH or a PERSONAL CHECK to pay for your daily-use permit.
Please bring a water bottle and wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Some sections of our route have little to no shade, while others have lots of shade. We recommend sun protection, bug spray, and closed-toe shoes. There are restrooms on site, and we will have a water cooler available for refills. You may wish to bring lunch or a snack to enjoy at the preserve after our ride.
This program is provided in partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Your gift of $5 or more per person will help Big Waters Land Trust save wild places and continue to engage people in nature. We greatly appreciate your support!
