Let’s continue working some focused derby skills to help you level up this season! Are you a rookie, C, or B-level skater? Join me March 29, 2025 at Barber Park in Orlando where I will be teaching 2 workshops! These will be capped in attendance to provide a low-pressure environment for skaters to develop their skills and have a blast doing it.Session 1
Back It Up Basics
This is a beginner-oriented foundational skills class that will cover 180 and 360 transitions, backwards skating, turn-around toe stopping, and backwards cross pulls. These basic skills are good for all kinds of skaters, and will take you from the rink, the skatepark, roller derby, the trail, and everywhere in between! This class has been incredibly popular at RollerCon 2022 and 2023.
Session 2
Highly Offensive Scenarios
Offense is a critical component of roller derby, and for some skaters it’s their favorite job on the track. Learn what offense even is and when to use it in a variety of scenarios. We will start with communication drills to warm up, followed by contact drills to get us working effectively with our jammers to get points on the board. This class is based on one of my most popular at RollerCon and has been rated 5 stars by attending skaters!
FAQ’s
How much is the clinic?
$30 for each skater. You can send payment via Zelle at 386-847-0344 or Venmo @heather-lyles-punk.
Where do I register?
You can sign up here: https://forms.gle/HWsm2gNm56HhQCqj7
I can only attend one portion of the clinic. Do I still have to pay full price?
Yes!
How many people will be there?
To ensure everyone gets quality 1:1 time with me and plenty of reps on skates, this event will be capped at 30 skaters. Unfortunately, spectators will not be accommodated at this time.
When do I have to pay for my spot?
All skaters need to be paid up to secure their spot. Spots will only be held for skaters that have paid for their spot. If you have registered but not paid, your spot will be given up as the list fills.
What do I need to bring to the clinic?
You will need to bring black and whites, full derby gear, water/snacks, and anything to take notes with.
Do you need my WFDTI info?
Nope! This event is insured (just not through WFTDI) and even if you don’t have derby insurance, you are welcome to participate.
What is Barber Park?
Barber Park is located in Southeast Orlando towards the airport. It has a covered hockey rink with smooth concrete flooring that does run a little slick from dust. There is plenty of free parking, restrooms, and even a little skate park in the back!
Oh no, I can’t make it! Can I get a refund?
Nope! Unless I cancel the event, there will be no refunds. Unsure about signing up? You’re welcome to see if spots are open up until the day of the event!
I can’t make this event, but I would love to work with you! Is that possible?
Yes! Feel free to contact me directly. I currently work 1:1 with roller skaters and derby players in person or via Patreon with professionally-produced video tutorials. I am also available to book clinics for small groups and leagues, or footage review. Look for me at RollerCon 2025…
