Turkey’s iconic oriental dancer, choreographer and teacher, Azad Kaan is considered to be one of the best belly dancers in the world today and we are so lucky to have him in Adelaide in December of this year! SHOW
Azad will feature in our show Istanbul to Cairo alongside some of Australia’s finest oriental dancers. Be taken on a enthralling journey to Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt and beyond with spectacular cabaret and folk dance performances, beautiful costumes and mesmerising music. Our school’s darbuka teacher Harry Trikaliotis will also be playing live, showcasing the art of Middle Eastern drumming. Show details are as follows:

WORKSHOPS
Azad will be presenting his highly sought after and invaluable oriental dance workshops right here in Adelaide on the 9th, 10th & 11th of December.
Saturday the 9th of December
10am: Ws1: Azad Style Crossover Training
An invaluable oriental technique workshop exposing dancers to many different variations of shimmies, postures, arm positions and spins. This is essential training for all students and performers of oriental dance!

1:30pm: Ws2: Turkish Raks Sharky
Raks sharky is a style which allows a dancer to exude class and grace whilst their dancing becomes poetry in motion. Azad will guide you step by step through an old raks sharky piece in the classical Turkish and Nesrin Topkapi styles.
3hrs
Sunday the 10th of December
10am: Ws3: Azad Style Oriental Turns
Azad is popular for his unique off-balance baby turns. Come and learn the tricks of these and other captivating turns which can add so much elegance to your dancing. Along with turns, there will be a focus on travelling steps as well - all taught and drilled to sublime music.

1:30pm: Ws4: Tabla Solo
Think energetic, dynamic, powerful, shimmylicious, hip drops and sass! Azad's drum solo is packed with the WOW factor that you can use to hypnotise your audiences. Whether you perform the entire choreography for your audiences or take elements and combos from it, it’s sure to be a showstopper for your dance repertoire!

Ws5: BONUS workshop - Turkish Pop Choreography
A gorgeous new oriental choreography to a catchy pop song by Sinan Özen titled “Sevişmeliyiz” which means we've got to love each other. This choreography has classical combos that have been infused with this contemporary song to create a timeless masterpiece for you to captivate your audiences with.
Note: This workshop is a BONUS and not included in the Package price. This workshop on its own is $100 or $480 if purchased with the Package as well.
